I am a professional Doula now serving the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas of Vancouver Island. I provide support for you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. As a DONA trained doula I have undergone specific courses of study and also have personal experience as I am the mother of 4 wonderful children. I have been working as a doula for 7 years and have a great interest in different birth choices and alternate child raising philosophies. I'm continually upgrading my skills to better serve my clients and am very open to new ideas. |

Why Hire A Doula?
Good question!! The decision is a very personal one because you are inviting me to share in a very intimate and private event in your lives. You should feel completely comfortable with any support you have during your birth and you should feel that they will be an asset to both partners. As a doula, I am there at your request, working for you and your partner to ensure that as much as possible, things go the way you want them to. I'm also there for the little things such as taking photos, writing birth stories and keeping a record of the events. I can stay with mom while dad grabs a sandwich and also help him stay involved as much as he wants to. This is very different for each father and I am always amazed at the sensitivity and love a father has for his newborn. Watching them discover eachother for the first time is truly one of life's most beautiful moments and my favourite thing to photograph. Most importantly, you have to feel good about the person you hire. This is an amazing time in your lives and you should surround yourself with loving, supportive people who respect the choices you make and are there to help you. You owe it to yourself to make the best decision you can. Let your heart be your guide! |
