As any parent knows, staying home with a new baby is both wonderful and challenging. We have dedicated this small portion of our site to helping you save money and/or time so that you have more energy and less stress during this most amazing time in your baby's life.
Tip#1 CLOTH! CLOTH! CLOTH! Cloth diapers are now both economical and easy to use with many different styles available to suit your lifestyle. I was asked to write an article on this subject and in my research found out the real prices of cloth vs. disposables. Both of us use cloth diapers. Cloth $ 700.00 (including all supplies, laundering, detergents, water, power etc.)
Diaper Service $ 2100.00 (not including waterproof pants)
Disposables $ 2025.00 (major brands,if bought on sale, using coupons etc.)
For complete details please write to Elizabeth and request a copy of the Fall 2003 DSAA Newsletter. I will include a copy on this site in the near future so keep looking.
Looking for a cheap diaper pail? You can re-use any plastic tub with a tightly fitting lid. Smaller pails are easier to lug around, especially if they are full of soaking diapers. Laundry soap, cat litter, lots of bulk items come in tubs!
Ziploc bags are terrific for carrying a clean diaper and 2 wipes. When you're done changing your baby, just put the dirty diaper and wipes in the bag, seal, and ignore it until you get home and can put it in the pail. No Fuss! No Muss! Ziplocs are great for hundreds of things.
